Wildcats Sign Former WVU Standout Vaughn Rivers for 2009

Wheeling, WV-  The Wheeling Wildcats have announced the signing of former West Virginia University standout Vaughn Rivers to a contract for the 2009 season.  Rivers (5’9, 175) will make his professional debut for the Wildcats after starring at WVU as a Cornerback, Wide Receiver, and Return Specialist.  Vaughn Rivers played at WVU from 2003-2007, serving as a permanent team captain and earning several honors during his career.    “We are very excited to have Vaughn Rivers signed for our 2009 championship run.  He is a very explosive talent, who has the ability to contribute on both sides of the football.  His ability in the return game gives us a chance to score anytime he gets his hands on the football,” commented Head Coach Shawn Liotta.

Wheeling Wildcats Sign David Dinkins for 2009 Season

Wheeling, WV-  The Wheeling Wildcats Professional Indoor Football Team have announced the signing of WR  David Dinkins for the 2009 season.  Dinkins brings 2 seasons of NFL Experience with the Buffalo Bills, and has played in the NFL Europe and the Arena Football League.  Dinkins, a league All-Star and 2005 AIFL League MVP is regarded as one of the more versatile, and explosive players in the indoor game.   Dinkins has played at receiver and quarterback the past two seasons under current Wildcats coach Shawn Liotta.  “I am thrilled to have Dave Dinkins back with us this year.  He is a very explosive, talented player who we will use in a variety of ways to attack a defense.  He has the versatility to line up at WR, RB, or QB and cause a magnitude of problems for our opponents.   Dave Dinkins will be a key component as we make our run at the 2009 CIFL Championship,” commented Liotta.

Wheeling Wildcats Release 2009 Schedule

Wheeling,WV-  The Wheeling Wildcats have released the 2009 CIFL schedule.  The Wildcats will compete in the eight team CIFL's Eastern Division with the Marion Mayhem, Ft. Wayne Freedom, and Huntington, WV.  The Wildcats open training camp in late February, and will begin their quest for the 2009 CIFL Championship on the road vs. the Marion Mayhem on March 13th.  The Wildcats 2009 home opener at WesBanco arena is set for Saturday March 28th, 2009 vs. the Ft. Wayne Freedom at 7:00pm.  The Wildcats will play six regular season home games at the Wesbanco Arena, leading up to the CIFL Divisional and Championship playoffs in June 2009.
